Alex Lowes began his top flight racing career in British Superbikes as he competed for KTM during three races of the 2010 season. 2011 saw Lowes begin the year with Honda, however, an early season change to Kawasaki machinery saw results go in the wrong direction before a third switch took place later on with Yamaha.

Before switching to Yamaha, Lowes was called up to WorldSBK to replace an injured Jonathan Rea - the man he’s now teammates with at Kawasaki - but like much of his first full BSB season results were hard to come by. In his four WorldSBK races that season (2011), Lowes finished a race just once.

After returning to BSB, Lowes finished out the year with a best of seventh, which was still shy of his best with Honda (5th).

Lowes returned to Honda for the 2012 season which was easily his best at the time. The now 31 year-old claimed maiden podiums and wins, while also finishing fourth in the championship. A season of building blocks then led to a title winning season in 2013 as he took podiums in the first six consecutive races. Lowes would end the year with 8 wins and 13 rostrums.

Lowes’ title winning season helped gain a promotion to WorldSBK with Suzuki in 2014, a move that delivered immediate results. The Brit claimed a best result of second in just his sixth race of the season, before another podium in race nine came at Donington Park.

A very strong rookie year was then followed by a second year with Suzuki which saw Lowes claim one podium less, however, Lowes was slightly more consistent throughout the season as he bettered his championship position of 11th with P10. Lowes then moved to the full factory Pata Yamaha team in 2016 which is where he spent the next four seasons.

After taking four podiums in both 2017 and 2018 - includes a maiden WorldSBK win in Brno (2018) - Lowes would go on to take third in the 2019 season following a single-season best of nine podiums. It’s a total that easily surpassed his previous number of four, while the same can be said about his last two seasons with Kawasaki.

Since joining Kawasaki in 2020 Lowes has claimed 13 podiums including two at the final round of the 2022 season, in what was his best performance of the year.

Lowes has not won a WorldSBK race since his debut season with Kawasaki, but showed on more than one occasion in 2022 that a return to the top step might not be too far away.
