Leon Camier has extended his lead in the ViSK.com British Superbike Championship standings despite having a fourth victory of the season tempered by technical issues at Donington Park.

Having moved into the lead last time out at Oulton Park, Camier was in a prime position to extend his advantage following the elimination of closest rival Sylvain Guintoli before the start of the first race.

Although a slow start left him playing catch up initially, Camier needed just five laps to work his way up from fifth to first, where he would go on to pull away for a comfortable victory over Airwaves Yamaha team-mate James Ellison.

Chasing a second consecutive 'double triumph' in the next race, Camier didn't get away well again, but was well on the way to making up ground when he was caught out by a mysterious technical issue that stopped him for around 25 seconds.

While a marvellous charge from 26th to 12th would see him score four crucial points, Camier - also suffering from a debilitating cold - was certainly left feeling mixed emotions by the end of the day

"I've been suffering from a cold this weekend and not been 100% so the races were tough. I didn't get great starts in either so I knew I had to really push to get to the front. In race one it all went pretty much to plan and so I was really pleased to get another win for Airwaves Yamaha.

"The second race seemed to be going the same way until the bike stopped. At the moment we're not too sure what happened so we'll have to look into it, but it's onwards and upwards from here."

Camier now has a one race buffer to second place Ellison, 28 points ahead.
