Robert Fearnall, former boss of Donington Park racing circuit and hugely respected figure of the motorsport paddock, has died at home at the age of 57 it has been announced.

Robert was a keen motorsport enthusiast whose roles over the years had seen him involved with a series of publications and becoming press officer for Silverstone.

However, he was best known for his role at Donington Park, with Robert first joining Tom Wheatcroft at the circuit in 1979 and with only one or two short breaks, had directed racing operations at the circuit from that time up until the present day.

"We have been informed of the sad loss of Robert Fearnall. Obviously my family and I, as well as the staff here at the circuit and his many friends both in the UK and worldwide, are enormously saddened by this tragic news."
