Sean Emmett took the second victory of the day in the British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch today marking his first win in the series for fifteen months.

Michael Rutter took a jump start from the line and took the ten second penalty that represented. This left Shane Byrne and Sean Emmett the riders in contention for the lead on the early laps.

Initially Rutter moved off into the distance on track despite his ten second penalty before he was caught by Sean Emmett who got past him pretty easily. Behind Rutter John Reynolds had found his way past Shane Byrne, but was finding getting past Rutter more of a task.

With ten laps to go Reynolds was past Rutter and began to hunt down Emmett, eating into the two second gap by some two tenths per lap before his rear tyre declared that it had enough of this kind of abuse and began to spin up. Reynolds, winner in race one, then cruised home to a comfortable second place behind Emmett.

Another fine performance from Glen Richards saw the Hawk Kawasaki come home fourth whilst fifth place was taken by Leon Haslam.

Michael Rutter, after his ten second penalty for the jump start, was classified in ninth place at the end of the race.
