Shakey was then taken by Michael Rutter who looked comfortable until the half-way mark when John Reynolds took a lead that was to be unchallenged for the rest of the race.

Sean Emmett worked his way into third place and second, third and fourth places were hotly contested for the entire race, but Emmett eventually took the second place when it mattered. Shane Byrne came home in third place, and laid blame for this on a wrong tyre choice.

Glen Richard was looking hot in the early stages but eventually full back down from the head of the field to finish an eventual fifth place.
