Yukio Kagayama and John Reynolds led from the front in Friday's practice for the 10th round of the British Superbike Championship at Croft in North Yorkshire.

Yuki, fastest here in last week's official BSB test, took the top time less than half a second ahead of his team mate and Championship leader John Reynolds.

Wet during first practice, the circuit remained damp in the second session, never letting the riders properly attack the twists and turns for a fast lap time.

JR leads the Championship by 73-points from Honda's Michael Rutter going into this round.

"Maybe this circuit is not so bad," commented Kagayama. "When we all have to learn track at same time I have advantage because I have been doing this for the past year every time I race!

"But today the British weather has been bad. I think every time we go north it rains. This is unbelievable. Today not quite so wet as Knockhill, but still not comfortable and must put leathers over heaters to dry. Please no rain dances tonight, I want dry qualifying and races, this is much more fun riding."

"It was steady away today thanks to the weather," said Reynolds. "I am revving and hungry to get going, but with a wet track, I came down on the side of caution. At this stage of the season I don't want to do anything stupid!

"My bike is doing all I ask of it and to be second on the time sheets behind Yuki, who has an affinity with this place for some reason and will be hard to beat, is no big dramas. If it's dry tomorrow, I'll pull the pin and we will see what sort of damage we can do to the lap times."
