Bitter-sweet Silverstone for Nutt.

Marty Nutt on board his Mark Johns Motors/Nutttravel.com Honda, had a mixed race day at Silverstone in Northants last weekend.

Race one saw Nutt finish third in the Bennetts British Superbike Cup, eighteenth in the overall standings of the Superbike race, but this was unfortunately for him outside the points which had been his aim. Race two resulted in a DNF due to a brake concern, so he was left a little disappointed with the results after a lot of hard work.

Nutt lost a lot of valuable time in first qualifying when his machine succumbed to an electrical problem. However, his team worked hard to rectify that and he was able to be competitive in second qualifying.

"I missed most of first qualifying which left me with a big gap to pull back," explained Nutt at the end of the weekend. "We put a qualifier in early on and that worked well, so when we went for our second qualifier I managed to put it on the same row as Plater and Ben Bostrom, which can't be bad!"

Nutt qualified in twentieth, just 0.2 seconds off Steve Plater's time. Race one was a frantic affair with a red flag to add to the tension, however Nutt worked hard and came home in third in the BSB Cup. "I was disappointed with where I finished as I was struggling with grip and handling," he said afterwards. "Due to losing time early in the weekend I hadn't completed many laps on race rubber so the bike wasn't quite dialled in."

Race two got off to a more promising start, with the changes that the team had made seeming to pay off. This time round a concern with his front brake was hampering the talented Ulster man.

"The red flag came at just the right time, I was able to get into the pits and have it changed, but when the race restarted I realised that I still had a problem and had to retire."

Marty's aim for this weekend was to finish in the Superbike Championship points, sadly that didn't happen, but as ever he and his team are undeterred. "We seem to have one good result and one bad result. The next round is Cadwell park, which isn't a favourite of mine, but I'll get my head down and see what happens," said Nutt.
