Kiyo heads off the Airwaves pair for win.

Ryuichi Kiyonari was taking no prisoners during race one of round seven of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Snetterton, with another lights to flag victory.

Second place went once again to Leon Haslam who tailed Kiyo all the way, with Gregorio Lavilla back in a lonely third place on his Airwaves Ducati. The first lap wasn't without incident as Simon Andrews crashed out at the Esses, his Jentin Yamaha slid across the grass and continued across the track narrowly missing Jon Kirkham who is replacing Shane Byrne on the Rizla Suzuki. Gary Mason on the Hydrex Honda also crashed at the same place but it looked like a completely separate incident.

Initially it was HM Plant verses Airwaves with Kiyo ahead of his team-mate Karl Harris with Haslam and Lavilla following but that was soon to change with Haslam passing Lavilla for second place. Harris, who had been looking very smooth and fast on the black HM Plant machine had a massive off at the bomb hole. He lost the front and slid into the air barrier with his bike taking to the air and landing on top of the tyre wall.

This incident brought out the safety car as Harris and his machine were tended to; miraculously he walked away from the crash. The safety car stayed out for four laps and the racing got underway again on lap eight. Unfortunately the crashing continued with Kirkham going down at Coram, with James Buckingham on the Quay Garage Honda following him in.

Lap nine saw the Airwaves team trading places and paint work as Lavilla tried for second place but Haslam wasn't giving in easily. Further down the field Johnny Rea on the Red Bull Honda was making his presence felt passing Tommy Hill at the Bomb hole; however Hill promptly took it back. Rea wasn't to be undone and sidled past at Riches corner to take fourth place.

Haslam broke the lap record as expected setting a new low of 1min 05.054secs on lap eleven, despite his rapid pace he couldn't get the better of Kiyo.

Michael Laverty was the first of the Stobart machines home in fifth place running on his spare machine as he has been suffering from technical issues all weekend. His team-mate Michael Rutter finished in seventh with Virgin Mobile Yamaha's Tommy Hill slipping into sixth place ahead of him.

James Haydon dug deep to bring the remaining Rizla Suzuki home in eighth place. Riding with a badly injured shoulder, Haydon has admitted that he is only sixty five percent fit but still managed to do a good job on track. Billy McConnell and Ben Wilson rounded out the top ten.

There were two retirements, Scott Smart went out with suspensions problem and Sean Emmett pitted on lap eleven.
