Dorna: New deal for the best.

Dorna UK has admitted that MotorSport Vision are the ideal people to take the British Superbike Championship forward after confirmation that Jonathan Palmer's company has secured the commercial rights to the series.

MSV will host half of the 2008 BSB rounds at its circuits, with the announcement today [Wednesday] confirming paddock rumours that the company was set to take over commercial rights from Dorna, whose deal was due to run until 2009.

Dorna UK, part of the larger Dorna Sports organisation, had held the role since 2004 and was responsible for improving the television package to include coverage on ITV, Sky Sports and Men and Motors - a package which improved commercial interest ad sponsorship support as a result.

MSV will now aim to continue that growth with its new ten-year deal.

"In 2004 the championship owners, MCRCB, approached Dorna and asked us to step into British Superbikes as commercial rightsholder," Dorna UK's managing director Tony Partis said. "Since that time Dorna has invested significant sums in the series in an effort to raise its profile amongst bike fans and beyond. In 2007 the series enjoyed it's highest ever visibility and is firmly established in the consiousness of armchair fans, the general media and marketing brands.

"It is deeply satisfying that the series has never been healthier commercially, however with MSV hosting half the 2008 championship rounds, Jonathan and his team are now better positioned to promote the commercial rights. We wish Jonathan and the MSV organisation every success for the future and look forward to the continuing growth of the series."
