Confident Mossey out to break Byrne’s run

Despite suffering with an intermittent brake issue for the past two rounds, Luke Mossey says he heads to Thruxton in a confident mood as he targets halting Shane Byrne’s winning run.

The JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider lost his MCE British Superbike championship lead last time out to Bynre at Brands Hatch and has been powerless to stop the Be Wiser Ducati rider storm to four consecutive wins while he’s been struggling with a brake problem.

After recent in-season tests at Cadwell Park, Mossey has been given a timely confidence boost his team has resolved the brake issue and he can attack at Thruxton having reached the podium at the Hampshire circuit in his first two years in BSB.

“It was one of those things at Brands Hatch. It was out of my hands and it was the same brake problem as we had at Snetterton,” Mossey said. “The team has worked hard and sorted the issue, so the bike is looking good again.

“Last season at Thruxton I picked up a podium finish and did so in 2015, so it’s a track which has always been good to me, even going back to my Supersport days. I feel good in myself and have no doubt that with the bike performing well we can be back up there again.

“I’m still second in the championship and feel confident I can break Shakey. He’s been riding well and full of confidence. They’ve got the Ducati right, but I want to go out and challenge.”
