Josh Brookes has demonstrated his potential during warm-up ahead of the Cadwell Park round as he prepares to attack race one from pole position for Be Wiser Ducati.

Aiming to close the gap on team-mate Scott Redding at the top of the Bennetts British Superbike championship standings, Brookes has looked in ominous form at the Lincolnshire circuit with lap-record pace followed up by pole position.

The 2015 BSB champion saw off Danny Buchan to claim top spot in warm-up by 0.108s with the FS-3 Racing Kawasaki rider splitting the Be Wiser Ducati duo with Redding slotting into third place.

Fresh from a maiden BSB win last time out at Thruxton, Andrew Irwin made a late surge to fourth on the times for Honda Racing as the order chopped and changed throughout the 20-minute session.

Irwin shuffled Buildbase Suzuki’s Bradley Ray back to fifth place, with the youngster showing his own return to form with second place in qualifying, as Christian Iddon led the Tyco BMW charge in sixth place.

Peter Hickman charged back into the top 10 in seventh place for Smiths Racing BMW, returning to the track where he clinched his maiden BSB win back in 2014, ahead of Oxford Racing Ducati’s Tommy Bridewell and Tyco BMW’s Glenn Irwin.

Luke Stapleford rounded out the top 10 on the Buildbase Suzuki.

BSB race one gets underway at 13:30 local time at Cadwell Park followed by race two at 16:30.
