Renault Clio Cup UK driver Mike Bushell is to sample BTCC machinery for the first time after it was confirmed that he will test with IP Tech Race Engineering at Snetterton next week.

Bushell, currently racing with Scuderia Vittoria in the Clio Cup having started the year with Westbourne Motorsport, will share the Team Club 44 Chevrolet Cruze with team boss Andy Neate during the test, where the team will aim to gain further knowledge of the new car.

The Cruze made its debut in the series at Snetterton, with Neate taking a best finish of 16th in race three.

"What I thought was just a dream could now become a reality," Bushell told btcc.net about th- chance to test the Chevrolet. "When I sat in a Fiesta for a trackday just over two years ago I could never have imagined this sort of career progression. I seem to have got quicker and quicker personally, but I must also thank Westbourne Motorsport and then the KX Akademy for raising my profile too. It has helped hugely to bring things to this point, and it really feels like all my birthdays have come at once!

"It will be the fastest thing I've ever driven on a race track and I'm sure I'll be screaming to myself with excitement on the first lap or two. Of course I'm a racing driver that wants to push myself to the limit, but I'm conscious of the fact that Andy [Neate] will need the car for Knockhill a few days later so I'll need to show a lot of maturity with the run."

While IP Tech is set to field a single car for the rest if 2013 - despite having two entries - plans are afoot to expand next year.
