Reigning British Touring Car champion Ashley hits the front for the first time this season after topping second practice for Subaru ahead of Sam Tordoff at Croft.

Having suffered a challenging start to the year, the BMR Subaru outfit look to be competitive for the first time this season with both Sutton and Jason Plato firmly nestled in the top-ten during both practice sessions so far.

After setting the third quickest time during FP1, Sutton subsequently shaved another 0.1s off his previous best effort with a 1 minute 24.721s lap in FP2, putting the Subaru Levorg GT driver just 0.009s clear of Tordoff's Motorbase Performance Ford Focus RS in second.

In what looks set to be a fiercely competitive qualifying shootout later this afternoon, just 0.8s covered the top-22 order.

Looking to bounce back from a difficult Oulton Park weekend, Josh Cook was third fastest for the Power Maxed TAG Racing Vauxhall squad, just 0.053s shy of Sutton's front-running pace.

Fresh off the back of his first win of the 2018 season, Rob Collard ended practice as the quickest Team BMW runner in fourth position, ahead of another strong showing from the HMS Racing Alfa Romeo Giulietta of Rob Austin in fifth.

FP1 pacesetter Tom Ingram set an identical to Austin's Alfa Romeo in sixth position, while AmD Tuning's Rory Butcher made a late jump up the order with an impressive lap in seventh.

Jake Hill was eighth fastest aboard his Team HARD prepared Volkswagen CC, just 0.006s quicker than Plato in ninth. BMW Pirtek Racing's Andrew Jordan completed the top-ten order in tenth.
