Lance Stroll has given Aston Martin’s 2024 F1 challenger - the AMR24 - its track debut at Silverstone.

Aston Martin are the latest F1 team to pull the covers off their all-new car ahead of pre-season testing next week.

The launch took place at the team’s base at Silverstone on Monday morning.

Stroll remains with the Silverstone-based outfit for a sixth consecutive season, partnering two-time world champion Fernando Alonso.

The Canadian got the opportunity to drive the new car at Silverstone, conducting a shakedown on a set of wet tyres.

Speaking about his first opportunity in the AMR24, Stroll said: “First run in the AMR24. It’s great to be in the car. It felt good. The car looks good.

“I can’t wait to get back out there. There’s been a lot of hard work by everyone over the winter to build this car.

“Really proud of all the guys and it’s always an exciting day to get out there for the first time in the new car. It’s a good day.”

Aston Martin finished fifth in the F1 2023 constructors’ championship, scoring eight podiums.

The team started the year as Red Bull’s nearest challenger, with Alonso finishing in the top three six times in eight races.

Their form dipped mid-season, coinciding with McLaren’s remarkable resurgence.

Aston Martin dropped out of the top four in the championship in the final run of races.

Technical director Dan Fallows has vowed to make sure Aston Martin’s in-season development is better as they look to return to regular podium-contention in 2024.
