Relief for British American Racing.

In temperamental weather conditions that saw the team having to think on their feet throughout the race, Lucky Strike BAR Honda secured their first points of the season for both cars after what has been a frustrating year so far.

Putting the disappointment of the past races behind them they are understandably both relieved and extremely pleased to have broken their points duck - especially here at their home Grand Prix.

Jock Clear, Race Engineer to fourth placed Jacques Villeneuve commented: "It feels fantastic. The car was reliable and we weren't frightened by any of the track conditions. We took each set of those conditions as they came and it just worked out."

"You've got a lot of choices at times like that so there are a lot of opportunities to make a mistake and a lot of opportunities to get it just right. Today [Sunday] we got it right. It's a big relief because the pressure's been on all of us recently - we've been trying to take stock of exactly where we are and there have been times over the past ten races when we've shown our weaknesses. Today [Sunday] we showed our strengths."

Olivier Panis' Race Engineer, David Lloyd, is similarly ebullient following yesterday's result: "This is an unbelievable relief" he said. "We picked the right strategy - the car was well balanced and we came up trumps. Not just one point but quite a few all together, so it feels good!"

This will certainly be a race day to remember for Chief Mechanic Alastair Gibson, who very nearly missed his home Grand Prix this year: "It's been a big day for me," he said. "My wife went into labour this [Sunday] morning and I left her at the hospital to come and do this race. I only just made it here in time and my nerves were absolutely shot all the way through! It's great to have both cars in the points though. It proves that we can do it and it that all our hard work can pay off."

Finally, Ron Meadows sums up the feeling of relief for the 70 strong crew that worked flat out all weekend to give their home crowd a performance to be proud of: "It's been a long time coming and the guys really deserve this. The pitstops were great and their preparation was fantastic. For once it all paid off. Onward and upward!"
