More job losses at Jordan?

The Formula One grapevine suggests that the economic downturn may not yet have finished dealing with the grand prix scene, amid rumours that Jordan may have to lay off more employees before the start of next season.

Although team boss Eddie Jordan remained upbeat when interviewed by the British press prior to the weekend, he is now rumoured to be looking at further ways to cut costs in order to avoid following Arrows and Prost out of Formula One. He has already admitted that next season's second driver will have to bring a viable sponsor to secure his seat, and that the design of the EJ13 - hopefully not a superstitious portent - was being put ahead of all other matters financially. Jordan is the only team not testing in some capacity before next year, having decided that building an interim car to house the Cosworth V10 was not sustainable.

The job cuts are expected to be made over a short period of time, with some staff apparently already having been told that they are out of work.
