2003 Nissan World Series driver Bas Leinders has crashed today [Wednesday] at Barcelona, as he began what was his very first test in an F1 car.

According to reports by Reuters, Leinders went off early in the session this morning, some reports suggesting he completed just six corners before damaging the Jordan Ford EJ13.

Mechanics are currently working to fix the car and get the Belgian back on track.

His accident follows another crash yesterday for the Silverstone-based squad, when German Timo Glock went off into the gravel.

The team also suffered engine gremlins, as problems continue to mount.

Jordan is currently believed to be struggling to secure sponsorship for 2004, and has yet to name any of its drivers, although Jos Verstappen, Nick Heidfeld, Allan McNish and Ralph Firman are all thought to be in the frame.

Full test report and times to follow later, once testing has been concluded for the day.
