ITV first took F1 in the UK in 1997 when it moved from its long term home in the UK of BBC

"F1 is a very valuable property to an increasingly broad range of advertisers who will appreciate our long-term commitment to the sport," Reuters reports Graham Duff, managing director of ITV sales, as saying.

The company is planning to make use of its ITV1 and forthcoming ITV3 channels to air their F1 coverage, giving F1 fans in the UK hope that all qualifying sessions might be shown live in the future.

ITV's coverage was sponsored by Toyota until this season when the Japanese giant pulled out of its multi-year deal. British newspaper, The Daily Telegraph now backs the coverage.
