Webber gets qualifying 'boost' for Jaguar.

He may be off to Williams at the end of the season, and Jaguar may be on its way out of Formula One for good after the Brazilian Grand Prix, but Mark Webber gave himself and his mechanics a welcome morale boost by qualifying third at Suzuka.

With qualifying cancelled on Saturday, as a result of the impending arrival of Typhoon 22, the session was run on Sunday morning for the first time. With almost 36 hours of incessant rain, the track remained treacherous in pre-qualifying, but was drying by the time the Australian made his final run.

"We would have liked to have had more time to prepare the cars for today but, as it has turned out, I am in third position for the race," Webber said, "My first qualifying session made it possible for me to go out much later in the second session, which has helped us.

"The boys have done a great job preparing the car given the little amount of track time we have had, and third position is a good morale booster. I am really looking forward to the race and, although it is a long one, I will be doing everything I can to finish in a points scoring position."

Jaguar team-mate Christian Klien qualified a strong 14th, ahead of Ferrari's recent race winner, Rubens Barrichello.
