Esteban Ocon has been disqualified from the results of the United States Grand Prix for exceeding the fuel flow limit on the opening lap.

The Force India driver fought to eighth place at the Circuit of the Americas, behind the two Renaults in the Formula 1 midfield battle, but will drop out of the final results after being picked up for going over the legal fuel flow limit during the opening lap of the US race.

“The Stewards reviewed the telemetry evidence, heard from the driver of car 31 (Esteban Ocon) and team representatives,” an FIA Stewards notice read. “The Stewards find that the fuel mass flow exceeded 100 kg/hr during Lap 1 of the race.”

As a result, Kevin Magnussen was promoted provisionally to eighth place but the Haas driver has also been excluded from the race classification for exceeding his total fuel usage for the race in Austin after an FIA Stewards hearing.

Ocon’s teammate Sergio Perez moves up to eighth following the double disqualification with Brendon Hartley taking his third points finish of the year moving to ninth place for Toro Rosso. Sauber's Marcus Ericsson gets the final points place in 10th.
