Over 6,000 laps were completed across the two weeks of testing split between Barcelona and Bahrain, with several teams enduring contrasting fortunes across both tests as they looked to get on top of F1’s new-for-2022 cars.

Here’s a run down of the all-important data from pre-season testing, including the fastest laps and mileage charts for each team.

Mileage charts

It was a very good pre-season for Ferrari, who enjoyed smooth and reliable running throughout on its way to completing the highest mileage of any team across the six days as Carlos Sainz racked up the most laps.

At the other end of the spectrum, the Ferrari-powered Alfa Romeo and Haas each had tricky tests hampered by reliability gremlins. Both made encouraging progress in Bahrain, despite Haas missing the opening half day due to cargo delays.

Following a strong first test, McLaren suffered a setback in Bahrain as brake issues compromised its running and prevented the team from completing any meaningly race simulations.

Considering his absence from the entire second test due to illness and a positive COVID-19 test, it is no surprise to see Daniel Ricciardo languishing towards the bottom of the driver mileage charts.

Mercedes led the timesheets in Barcelona but did not feature as highly in Bahrain as Red Bull finally teased the potential of its RB18 with reigning world champion Max Verstappen posting the benchmark lap to round out testing fastest.

Haas also caught the eye by showing a turn of pace with the returning Kevin Magnussen topping the second day in Bahrain, before Mick Schumacher pumped in the second quickest time overall from the second test.

Ferrari, McLaren, AlphaTauri and Alpine each headed at least one of the 12 test sessions.
