UPDATE: Ticktum stripped of F2 sprint race win

*UPDATE* Dan Ticktum has been stripped of his sprint race F2 win after his DAMS teams failed to provide a sufficient fuel sample, meaning Callum Ilott has inherited the victory.

Williams Formula 1 development driver Dan Ticktum cruised to victory to seal his second win of the 2020 FIA Formula 2 season in the Monza sprint race.

Starting second for Sunday’s shorter, partially-reversed grid race, Ticktum immediately took the lead from polesitter Louis Deletraz on the run to Turn 1, before turning in a controlled drive to pick up his second victory of the year.

UNI-Virtuosi’s Callum Ilott also passed Deletraz on his way to claiming second place and move back into the lead of the championship standings.

The Ferrari Academy Driver held off late attack from Renault protégé Christian Lundgaard, who completed the podium in third place for ART Grand Prix.

Feature race winner Mick Schumacher took a fourth place finish which has lifted him ahead of fellow Ferrari junior and Prema teammate Robert Shwartzman to second place in the standings.

Deletraz was fifth ahead of the second Prema of Shwartzman, who could not prevent slipping to third in the points despite finishing sixth.

Carlin’s Jehan Daruvala and Campos driver Jack Aitken rounded out the remaining points-paying positions in seventh and eighth.

Hitch Grand Prix’s Nikita Mazepin charged through the field from 21st on the grid but his efforts were not rewarded as he missed out on points in ninth, while the deputising DAMS driver Juri Vips completed the top-10.

Ilott now holds a five-point lead in the championship ahead of Schumacher, with Shwartzman a further three points behind in third place.
