Billy Monger has announced he will race with Carlin in the Euroformula Open Championship in 2019, starting this weekend at Paul Ricard.

Monger, 19, returned to racing last year in the BRDC British Formula 3 Championship after losing both his lower legs as a result of an accident at Donington Park in a Formula 4 race in 2017.

Racing in a modified car with approval from the FIA, Monger finished the year sixth in the standings for Carlin with three poles and four podium finishes to his name.

Monger had set his sights on a move up the racing ladder for 2019, and after contesting the Euroformula Open winter series with Carlin earlier this year, will now take part in the full season starting at Paul Ricard this weekend.

Besides his racing commitments this year, Monger has also been part of Channel 4’s Formula 1 TV broadcast team.
