24 Hours of Le Mans 2023 Hyperpole results: Ferrari claim historic pole

Fifty years ago an Italian claimed pole for Ferrari and, now in the famous endurance race's centenary year, history has repeated itself.

Brendon Hartley in the #010 Toyota GR8 Hybrid started fast until both Ferraris went quicker.

Alessandro Pier Guidi posted a time of 3'23''897 and Fuoco went 3'24''198.

Sébastien Bourdais in the #3 Cadillac Racing Cadillac V-Series.R went third at the half-way point.

Ferrari’s Guidi then had a lap cancelled for not respecting the limits of the track, allowing Fuoco to post 3'22''982.

Cadillac’s Bourdais took provisional pole - until he caught fire when passing the Daytona chicane, bringing out a red flag.

The Ferraris remained pitted when the session resumed.

But Cadillac, Porsche and Toyota could not beat their time, meaning both Ferrari cars will start on the front row at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
