Dominique Aegerter gave the grieving Technomag-CIP team something to smile about during the Moto2 Aragon Grand Prix as he claimed his best result of the season.

The Swiss racer, competing alone in the wake of team-mate Shoya Tomizawa's tragic death at Misano, was determined to put in a strong result for both the team and the fallen rider at Aragon.

He duly achieved his objective, Aegerter posting a best finish of the season in seventh, a result that moves him up to 13th in the overall standings.

An important performance both himself and the team, he is hoping the result can carry 'motivation and hope' for the remainder of the year.

"I made it quite clear to Shoya and our team," he said. "I wanted to produce a good result and I am happy that it worked. It will serve as motivation and hope for the other races."

Shoya would have wanted for me to continue to ride at full throttle and not to brake because of such a tragedy. He lost his life whilst doing what he loved. He loved motorsport, just like me. For me, riding bikes stands above all and this will continue to be the case."
