Mapfre Aspar Moto2 star Julian Simon will miss this weekend's Japanese Grand Prix after a follow-up operation on the right leg he broke at Catalunya.

The Spaniard, runner-up in last year's Championship, underwent surgery to 'remove plates and screws which had completed their tasks of fixing fragments of broken bone' while a new titanium mini-plate was inserted to help one of the fragments which had not yet fully healed.

"The operation went well and the recovery process looks very positive," said Simon. "I had some screws removed and consequently found that I still had a slight fracture. With that solved, now I'll comply strictly to what is prescribed to try to recover as soon as possible."

Simon has finished a best of seventh in the four races since his return.

Countryman Jordi Torres will be the only Aspar Moto2 rider at Motegi and says he isn't one of those worried about radiation.

"I am really looking forward to travelling to Japan because I have never been there before and I expect it will all be very exciting," he said. "Personally I am not worries about the radiation issue and I am sure that if they say it is safe to go then it is safe."
