Updated: Ducati has announced that Cal Crutchlow's Austin MotoGP hand injuries are not as bad as first feared.

After being taken to the medical centre with a suspected broken hand, the Englishman has been diagnosed with a dislocated little finger:

Crutchlow had earlier pitted for a new rear tyre and was running in last place when he suffered the big fall at turn two, on lap 13 of 21.

The Englishman immediately removed his glove and began checking his right hand, before being carried away on a stretcher. Crutchlow will now aim to be fit for the new event in Argentina on April 25-27.

There was better news on the other side of the garage with team-mate Andrea Dovizioso claiming his and Ducati's first podium since 2012.
