Hodgson 'optimistic' of Mugello return.

Neil Hodgson has declared that although he isn't fully recovered from his Le Mans injuries, he will try and race at this weekend's Italian Grand Prix.

"I'm still sore but I hope to be fit to ride," explained the Brit. "I've been out cycling which is a good sign but I will go and see Dr Costa in the Clinic Mobile at Mugello on Thursday afternoon and go from there.

"I actually broke two ribs and two bones at the base of my spine in the crash at Le Mans," he revealed. "I've been going every day to the hyperbaric oxygen therapy chamber in the Isle of Man for 90 minute sessions to try and speed up the healing.

"I'm optimistic about riding but I will wait until Thursday afternoon before making the final decision," concluded the d'Antin Ducati rider.

First qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix takes place on Friday.
