Roberts leads Rossi in wet Donington warm-up.

Kenny Roberts has confirmed his wet weather potential on the Bridgestone shod Suzuki by leading this morning's warm-up session ahead of the British Grand Prix at Donington Park.

Amazingly, there were no fallers in the session, which concluded with Roberts - who led in the wet at Shanghai before mechanical problems - holding a narrow 0.254secs advantage over world champion, and this afternoon's pole sitter, Valentino Rossi.

Marco Melandri - who was third behind Rossi and Olivier Jacque at the Chinese GP - was third fastest this morning, with Ducati's Carlos Checa just a fraction behind the Movistar Honda rider and within 0.351secs of Roberts.

The second Ducati of Loris Capirossi took fifth, 0.874secs from the top, while Repsol Honda's Max Biaggi lapped a further half a second slower to secure a morning sixth in front of Bayliss, Barros, Gibernau and Hayden.

Roberts' best time was 16.051secs from Rossi's pole pace, but the first signs of a dry line did start to develop. However, the outlook remains gloomy and few would predict that the track will dry fully - or that further rain won't fall - before the MotoGP race starts in just under five hours (at 15.30 local time).
