125: di Meglio wins in Catalunya.

Mike di Meglio has broken clear at the top of the 125cc World Championship standings after taking taken his second win of the season at Catalunya on Sunday.

di Meglio and Nicolas Terol were able to break away from the rest of the lead group by the halfway stage of the 22 laps, only to be reeled back in by debut pole sitter Pol Espargaro, world champion Gabor Talmacsi and Joan Olive as the final three laps began.

Mike di Meglio has broken clear at the top of the 125cc World Championship standings after taking taken his second win of the season at Catalunya on Sunday.

di Meglio and Nicolas Terol were able to break away from the rest of the lead group by the halfway stage of the 22 laps, only to be reeled back in by debut pole sitter Pol Espargaro, world champion Gabor Talmacsi and Joan Olive as the final three laps began.

Olive then crashed out, with Terol suffering the same fate on the penultimate lap - leaving a three rider fight for victory. di Meglio kept a few vital tenths clear of the battling Espargaro and Talmacsi during the last circulation and took victory by 0.268secs at the line.

Simone Corsi, tied with di Meglio at the top of the standings heading into the event, finished in fifth position and has now dropped 14 points behind the Frenchman heading into Donington Park on June 22.
