Voice of LVMS goes national.

Curtis Pilgreen, Las Vegas Motor Speedway's public address announcer since 1986, is making a move to national radio this week.

Pilgreen has been named to the Performance Racing Network's broadcast team for this weekend's Dodge/Save Mart 350 NASCAR Winston Cup event at Sears Point Raceway.

"This is a great opportunity for me," said Pilgreen, whose full-time profession is teaching high school math. "I only got involved in racing in 1996 when one of my students talked me into coming out to the short track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. That driver is now running in Winston Cup. It was Kurt Busch. I'm just glad now that (PRN Executive Producer) Doug Rice is giving me a chance to do the radio broadcast."

Pilgreen spends most Saturday's announcing at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and also serves as the webmaster for LVMS.com.

Pilgreen will be a turn reporter stationed in the chute, which is the newest part of the two-mile road course in Northern California's Sonoma Valley. He will work along with booth announcers Rice and Mark Garrow, turn reporters Chuck Carland and Rob Albright and pit reporters Brett McMillan, Pat Patterson and Steve Richards.

The PRN broadcast can be heard nationwide on over 400 stations. KENO AM-1460 will carry the race live in Las Vegas.
