2013 Texas NASCAR: Cup results

Kyle Busch completed a sweep of the Texas Motor Speedway race weekend, winning the NRA 500 over Martin Truex Jr. having led for a total of 171 of the 334 laps of the 1.5-mile superspeedway.

Kyle Busch claimed his second NASCAR Sprint Cup Series win of 2013 with victory in the NRA 500 under the floodlights at Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday evening, after finishing half a second ahead of Martin Truex Jr.

It's Busch's 26th Cup win, and came on his 300th outing in the series. The win moves Busch into a tie for 23rd on the all-time Cup race wins list. It's his first victory in Texas in 16 outings at the 1.5-mile superspeedway, having previously come home in third place on three separate occasions.

Busch led 171 of the 334 laps, and with runner-up Truex accounting for the race lead in another 142 laps it left only 21 laps in the hands of non-Toyota drivers, and of those only Jeff Gordon hit double figures before he retired from the race with a broken front suspension.

Busch also won the Friday evening Nationwide Series race, making this his second sweep of the season following similar success at Fontana, and his seventh sweep of Cup and Nationwide events in one weekend in his career. (The Camping World Series Truck Series is racing at Rockingham Speedway rather than Texas on Sunday afternoon.)

In the Sprint Cup standings, Jimmie Johnson continues to lead over Brad Keselowski (who had pre-race technical inspection problems at Texas along with his Penske Racing team mate Joey Logano) with Kyle Busch moving into third ahead of Roush Fenway Racing duo Greg Biffle and Carl Edwards.
