Junior double for Marshall at Shenington.

Jack Marshall won both finals in the penultimate round of the 2010 Super One Junior Rotax Championship at Shenington to grab the provisional points lead.

A perfectly timed double victory at Shenington propelled Jack Marshall into the lead of the 2010 ABkC Super One Junior Rotax Championship.

In a weekend marked by changeable weather conditions both point scoring finals remained dry and resulted in thrilling dices for the lead. On both occasions Marshall managed to keep the nose of his Strawberry Racing kart in front of his rivals and despite a pair of top five finishes for erstwhile points leader Matt Parry Marshall vaulted ahead of him in the title standings before dropped scores are taken into account.

Marshall passed Parry for the lead two laps from the end of the first final and led home a train of seven karts all separated by less than two seconds. Newly crowned GP Plate holder Sean Babington took second from Parry at the death with Oliver Hodgson, Jack Barlow, series rookie Matthew George and Jamie Dzyra completing the lead pack.

Despite holding on to the lead from pole position in the second final Marshall couldn't shake his closest rivals and spent the entire race swapping the lead with Babington and Parry with Barlow, George and Steven Handford keeping a close watching brief.

For the second time Marshall made his move in the late stages, taking the lead from Parry on lap 19 of 22 with Barlow following him through. But despite a concerted last lap effort Barlow couldn't get ahead of his teammate as Marshall ran out the winner by less than two tenths of a second. Babington also took advantage of Parry's loss of momentum and grabbed third with Parry crossing the line fourth but still only six tenths of a second behind Marshall.

Handford, George and Levi Coombs finished fifth, sixth and seventh, all less than two seconds behind the winner with James Singleton, Dzyra and Shaun Pirie completing a top ten separated by a fraction over four seconds.

After breaking his 2010 victory duck in style Marshall will go into the final round of the championship at the 3 Sisters circuit in Wigan eight points clear of Parry before dropped scores are taken into account with Babington moving into third overall, 30 points behind Marshall.
