Latest Ales Dryml update.

As reported yesterday, doctors treating seriously injured Czech Republic star Ales Dryml at Oxford's John Radcliffe hospital took the decision to move him out of the Intensive Care Unit to the specialist Neurological Unit which is still housed in the old hospital, the John Radcliffe Infirmary.

That move took place on Saturday and went well although, overnight, doctors and nurses there had to respond and treat Ales accordingly when some minor problems arose. We are informed that Ales responded well to that treatment and his condition is stable.

One or two further problems arose during yesterday (Sunday) but, again, the medical staff took the appropriate action and controlled them with Ales responding. No further treatment is planned at this stage with doctors allowing Ales, who remains sedated, to rest before they take the next steps in assisting his recovery.

The remainder of the Dryml family returned to where they are staying nearby for some much needed rest and, once again, have specifically asked that their sincere thanks be expressed to everyone who has posted messages of support via the temporary guest book set up for that purpose. It is, they say, of great comfort and inspiration to them to know that everyone is behind Ales and indeed them at this extremely difficult time.

Messages can still be posted by going to: www.oxford-speedway.com and clicking on the relative news item on the right hand side of the page. Amazingly over 950 messages of support had been posted by Sunday night from well wishers around the globe.

One positive piece of information we can bring you is best described by Andy Cooper who many in the speedway world will know and who is very close to the Dryml family. He commented, "The hospital have come up trumps in that they found a fully trained Intensive care / neurological nurse who is fluent in the Czech language and assigned her as part of the team caring for Alex.

"This means she can respond to any questions posed by the family in their own language rather than anything being lost in translation as it were and the Drymls are grateful to the hospital authorities for their initiative in doing this for them."
