Preview: Conference League Riders Championship.

Rye House host the Conference League Riders' Championship this Saturday, which will see an interesting field comprising of some exciting young Speedway talent - plus the odd experienced older hand.

Malcolm Holloway falls in to the latter category. Having gone in to retirement some years ago after a successful career, 'Mad Wellie' was tempted out of that retirement and is now part of the successful Somerset Rebels side.

Malcolm Holloway falls in to the latter category. Having gone in to retirement some years ago after a successful career, 'Mad Wellie' was tempted out of that retirement and is now part of the successful Somerset Rebels side.

On the other side of forty but still enjoying his racing, it would be no surprise to see Holloway back in full time speedway should the Rebels move to the Premier League next season. It will be no surprise to see him at the top of the rostrum on Saturday night.

Where might the challenges come from? Barrie Evans - touted as a wonderkid and making slow progress - is one to watch. Home track rider David Mason is dominant at this level and a host of other riders in the field have experience of a better class of racing - Scott Pegler and Chris Courage for example.

Rory Schlein is an interesting contender - a sixteen year old Australian starting to make his way in the sport and catching a few eyes already. As is Chris Collins - the latest product off the infamous Collins family speedway production line.

Line up (in riding order). An interesting alternative to the Polish Grand Prix.
