Speedway to return to Wimbledon.
After an absence of a decade, speedway is set to return to Wimbledon in 2002 thanks to a joint venture between David Croucher and Steve Ribbons. The Dons will compete at Conference League level next year with their first fixture arranged for 2 May - a challenge against Belle Vue Colts.
25 years for Collins.
Les Collins celebrates a quarter of a century as a speedway rider with a special silver jubilee meeting at Glasgow on Sunday. And it will be something of a family occasion with brother Neil and son Aiden also taking part.
Newcastle celebrate Premier League title.
Newcastle are the new Speedway Premier League champions after a 42-30 win over Glasgow at Brough Park. Rain failed to dampen the celebrations as the Diamonds secured the Premier League title with a 42-30 win over on Monday night.

Billy Hamill wins AMA National Championship.
Billy Hamill has won the 2001 American Motorcyclist Association National Speedway Championship. He claimed the title at the Gold County Fairgrounds in Auburn, California last Friday night from Billy Janniro. Ryan Fisher and Chris Manchester.

Following the enormous success of the inaugural Speedway Grand Prix at the Millennium Stadium, in Cardiff, this year, Benfield Sports International has announced that the British round of the 2002 Speedway World Championship will again be held at the Welsh capital, on Saturday June 8.

British speedway captain Chris Louis has been forced to pull out of Saturday's penultimate grand prix of the season as the result of lingering injury worries.

The new speedway world under 21 champion is David Kujawa. He took the title after scoring twelve points in the final at Peterborough on Sunday afternoon.

Ermolenko and Cook advance in World Speedway.
