25 years for Collins.

Les Collins celebrates a quarter of a century as a speedway rider with a special silver jubilee meeting at Glasgow on Sunday. And it will be something of a family occasion with brother Neil and son Aiden also taking part.

Collins began his speedway career all those years ago and has ridden for a number of different clubs, the latest being Glasgow where he is still more than capable of beating the best on his day.

The Collins clan are something of a speedway legend. Les's elder brother Peter had a distinguished career with Belle Vue and is now a commentator for Sky Sports. Youger brother Neil is still an active racer with Workington. Other brothers Phil and Steven were also speedway riders, with different levels of success.

Les's son Aiden is now carrying on the family tradition and riding with the 'old man' at Glasgow. And now Peter's son Chris is getting in on the action, taking his first tentative steps in the Conference League.

Hopefully the weather will be kind on Sunday and allow the 'elder statesman' of British speedway an afternoon to remember.

In addition to the main meeting and there will be a special match-race between 1976 world champion Peter Collins and Scottish legend Jim McMillan.

"I'm sure it will be an entertaining day and I want to give the supporters an afternoon to enjoy," said Collins.
