Ginetta confirms drivers for LMP1 comeback at Silverstone

The Ginetta-backed Team LNT has confirmed its driver line-up for its return to the FIA World Endurance Championship at the 4 Hours of Silverstone on September 1.

Ginetta entered the WEC's LMP1 class at the start of the 2018-19 campaign with a pair of Ginetta G60-LT-P1 cars, only for them to be withdrawn after two rounds when the CEFC TRSM Racing squad that was running the cars hit financial trouble that also prevented them from running over the Spa race weekend.

Ginetta confirmed its return to LMP1 for the 2019-20 campaign with an in-house operation, Team LNT, upon the publication of the entry list for the new season, and has now set its driver roster for the opening race at Silverstone.

Ginetta factory driver Charlie Robertson will be joined in the #5 Ginetta by Egor Orudzhev and Ben Hanley, both of whom bring recent LMP1 experience after racing with SMP Racing and DragonSpeed respectively earlier this year.

The #6 Ginetta features 2003 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Guy Smith, two-time American Le Mans Series champion Chris Dyson and factory driver Mike Simpson.

"We’re really excited to show what the Ginetta can do this season," said Ginetta chairman and Team LNT chief Lawrence Tomlinson.

“The mix of experience, consistency and raw speed that we are announcing for Silverstone has a great chance of helping us to show what the car is capable of in a field of really quick cars and world-class drivers."
