Murray, who is in NZ, on his world tour promoting his autobiography, "Unless I'm Very Much Mistaken" reckoned World Rally was just as good as F1.
Walker, when asked by Channel 4 Sport what he thought of World Rally said: "It's absolutely fabulous."
"I can't remember how long I've been in New Zealand as one day seems to follow another, in a most peculiar way. But I've never been to New Zealand before, I've always wanted to go, I've had several opportunities in the past and they have never worked out and I have never, ever seen one of these modern format rallies, and I must say your all doing an absolutely cracking job."
He added: "I was hoping Colin [McRae] was going to do well, then when he had his spot of trouble, I was hoping Richard [Burns] would do well, and hopefully win like he did last year. But it was not to be."
"And I hate to say it, in all honesty, it is a better spectacle than Formula One, very different of course. Horses for courses."
