Subaru team leader, Petter Solberg has revealed that the Banbury based squad enjoyed an 'encouraging' two-day test in Greece at the end of last week, as they finalised their set-up for the Acropolis.
The Norwegian ran on two different roads completing around 186 kilometres on day one - using a 3.2 km track with a mix of slow and medium fast corners with a hard base and a loose top. On day two he switched to a 4.6 km section, 1.5 car widths wide, with five-six first gear hairpins up a hillside. Furthermore despite the sunny weather giving way to some light rain in the afternoon, he managed to notch up a further 202 kilometres.
"It's been quite an encouraging two days for me working on set-up for Greece and other more general development work," said 'Hollywood'.
"I was quite pleased with the results. There's still more to come from the car - we're improving all the time. We've got a good plan and we've got to commit to it, to make sure it's perfect."
Solberg's team-mate, Chris Atkinson meanwhile was also in action and like Petter he was focusing on set-up work for Greece and tyre testing. He managed 370 kilometres on Friday and Saturday [May 5/6] and while conditions weren't quite a warm as they would have liked, the Aussie was still pleased. He ran on a 4.6 km test track, which was described by the team as 'medium rough', with some loose rocky sections, initially with a bedrock base.
Subaru's focus now switches to the next round on the schedule, which takes place next weekend in Sardinia. The team ran a specific test for this event prior to the Rallye de France-Tour de Corse, when Solberg tested for three-days and Atkinson for two.
