The FIA, the governing body of the World Rally Championship, has announced that Shell will continue to supply fuel to the FIA World Rally Championship from 2008-2010.

The decision was reached following a meeting of the World Motor Sport Council in Paris last week and confirmed on Friday, June 29.

Shell will supply the same fuel in 2008 as is being used this year, before switching to a second-generation bio-fuel from 2009, which is more environmentally friendly.

"Shell has won the tender to be the sole fuel supplier to the FIA World Rally Championship from 2008 to 2010," confirmed a brief statement by the FIA.

"It will continue to supply the current type of fuel in 2008 and from 2009 will switch to a second-generation biofuel, which will further reduce CO2 emissions."
