Matthew Wilson caught up with an 'old friend' last weekend at the 15th annual Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The Stobart VK M-Sport Ford driver was present for all three days of the event racing up the famous Goodwood hill climb and thrilling some lucky guests through the newly designed forest rally stage.

With the event attracting drivers from nearly every discipline of international motorsport, Wilson was able to chat with his former Manor Motorsport, Formula Renault, team-mate and good friend Lewis Hamilton.

It was a great opportunity for the pair to compare notes with Hamilton giving Wilson a detailed lesson on the ground breaking technology in his McLaren F1 car. Wilson is Britain's only full-time WRC driver and with Hamilton at the top of his game in F1 it was great for the fans to see these two youngsters in action representing their nation.

Wilson also mixed with stars of a different kind when he took former Boyzone member Shane Lynch for a ride in his Stobart Ford Focus RS WRC06.

Member of the multi-platinum boy-band, Lynch himself has a raft of motorsport experience including third place in the 2003 British GT Championship where he and team-mate Piers Johnson won a round at Silverstone.

The former Celebrity Love Island star finished the day extremely excited by his experience in the co-driver's seat of the Focus; the model which took overall manufacturer honours in the 2006 FIA World Rally Championship.

For Wilson it was a great chance to take these guys around what ended up being a mud bath of a rally stage by the end of the event. Several journalists were treated to a ride during the weekend as well as some special little co-drivers in the form of three patients from Teenage Cancer Trust.

"The weekend at Goodwood was amazing and it was fantastic to catch up with Lewis again," reflected Matt. "We have both moved forward in our different motorsport careers since we raced together a few years ago. His recent performances in F1 have been amazing and he is someone for all young British racing hopefuls to aspire to.

"It was also special for me to help out with the Richard Burns Foundation and Teenage Cancer Trust and to take the young charity guests out round the rally stage; it was an awesome experience for them all."
