The organisers of the Acropolis Rally of Greece have announced that next year's event will be based in Loutraki.

A statement to the media read:

"Following the finish of the 2008 WRC Greek round, the organising committee approached five towns that could meet the requirements of Acropolis Rally, namely Itea, Kamena Vourla, Lamia, Loutraki and Halkida. The plan proposed by Loutraki prevailed as the most complete.

"The town's geographical location played an important factor in this decision. Loutraki is located approximately 85 kilometres west of Athens and 120 kilometres from the Port of Patras.

"The HQ and the media centre will be based at the Club Hotel Casino Loutraki, located on the seaside, at the entrance of Loutraki, approximately 5 kilometres from the Athens-Corinth-Patras National Road. The service park will be in walking distance from the HQ.

"It should be noticed that Loutraki authorities, headed by the Mayor, Mr. George Gionis, visited Rally RACC Catalunya-Costa Daurada last weekend in order to experience the atmosphere and the needs of a FIA World Rally Championship round."
