The Citroen Total World Rally Team will continue to enjoy the backing of Red Bull in 2009, it has been confirmed.

The announcement comes following Sebastien Loeb's tenth victory of the season on the Rallye de France-Tour de Corse at the weekend, a result that puts him on the verge of claiming this year's drivers' championship.

The association between Red Bull and Citroen began in March ahead of the Rally Argentina - and since then a Red Bull-liveried C4 WRC has won on eight occasions.

"It is great news that the collaboration between Red Bull and Citro?n is to continue next year," said Citroen Sport's director Olivier Quesnel. "It is a sign of confidence and shows that there is a perfect fit between our two brands."

Sebastien Loeb meanwhile also welcomed the news: "One of the first tangible signs of the arrival of Red Bull as a partner was a new livery for our C4 WRCs which I took to at once," Loeb added.

"I think it reinforces Citroen's image as an innovative brand. Red Bull is involved in extreme, trendy sports that enjoy extensive media coverage, and the fact that it has decided to continue in the World Rally Championship next year is excellent news for rallying!"
