2012 WRC calendar to be finalised imminently

The FIA has confirmed that the 2012 World Rally Championship calendar will be 'officialised' before the end of this month.

The calendar was 'examined' this week when the World Motor Sport Council held its latest meeting in Paris. It will now be submitted again to the WMSC via a fax vote. The dates will then be confirmed taking into account the reduction of clashes with F1.

Meanwhile the FIA also announced that the minimum weight of the seats in WRC cars will be increased from 1 January 2012 in order to increase safety: "There will be greater freedom on seat material. This will enable competitors to use homologated seats with carbon shells at a more reasonable cost," the FIA explained.

Also, from 1 January 2013, the assumed weight of the crew will be increased from 150 kg to 160 kg to reflect average weights.
