Neuville, Sordo show Hyundai speed at Shakedown

Thierry Neuville and led a Hyundai 1-2 at the Rallye Monte-Carlo Shakedown event as the 2018 World Rally Championship prepares to roar into action.

The 2017 WRC runner-up topped the Shakedown by one-tenth of a second from team-mate Dani Sordo who both pulled out half a second on new Toyota Gazoo Racing signing Ott Tanak. Kris Meeke has led the Citroen charge in fourth as the third Hyundai in Andreas Mikkelsen rounded out the top five.

Toyota’s Jari-Matti Latvala claimed sixth on the 3.35km Shakedown stage ahead of defending WRC champion Sebastien Ogier as the highest place M-Sport Ford driver. Ogier’s new team-mate Elfyn Evans followed up in eighth as Craig Breen (Citroen) and Esapekka Lappi (Toyota) rounded out the top ten.

The opening stage of the 2018 Rallye Monte-Carlo gets underway on Thursday night with the reverse of Sisteron followed by the SS2 Bayons – Breziers 1 to complete the evening’s action.
