The Hyundai squad were preparing for the next round of the 2018 WRC season, Tour de Corse, on the 5-8 April when Neuville’s i20 dropped off the road at a bridge near Linguizzetta, 50km south of the rally’s Bastia base.

According to reports on WRC.com, the accident occurred at the exit of a left corner before the bridge pass and sent the Hyundai underneath the bridge in a shallow section of river which heavy damage sustain to the car.

Hyundai confirmed both Neuville and Gilsoul were able to walk away from the incident but it prematurely cut short the one-day test for the team.

Teammates Andreas Mikkelsen and Dani Sordo tested earlier in the week so Neuville’s shunt caused no further disruption to the Korean manufacturer’s preparations.
