Top 15 Rally Mexico results

Sebastien Ogier has produced a near-flawless performance at Rally Mexico to dominate to victory by over 30 seconds as Ott Tanak secured second place from Elfyn Evans on the final day.

The defending WRC champion grabbed victory on the Power Stage to maximise his points haul in Mexico, by beating Kris Meeke by one-tenth of a second, to reignite his title charge after suffering a retirement at Rally Sweden last time out.

Since taking control of Rally Mexico during Friday’s afternoon loop, Ogier rarely looked challenged in an event of high attrition which saw just five premier class runners reach the finish without dropping out of the running.

WRC championship leader Tanak ensured damage limitation against Ogier by taking second place for Toyota Gazoo Racing but sees his advantage trimmed to just four points heading to Tour de Corse.

With Evans having to settle for third place for M-Sport Ford it still marks his best result since last year’s Spanish round to breathe much-needed momentum into his 2019 campaign.

Thierry Neuville could only manage fourth place for Hyundai at the challenging Rally Mexico, having seen both Andreas Mikkelsen and Dani Sordo retire with separate mechanical issues, but finished comfortably ahead of Toyota’s Meeke who was unable to recover from a costly puncture.
