WSS: BE1 eyeing Triumph-ant season

BE1 Racing are determined to make Triumph race winners on the international stage in 2009 as they prepare for their first season as a factory backed team in the World Supersport Championship.

The British manufacturer entrusted its fortunes on Team SC in 2008, but it was the privately funded BE1 team that went on to prove the more successful operation, a performance that has now earned them factory backing for 2009.

Keen to emulate Triumph's title winning success in the British Supersport Championship, Triumph has already shown an impressive turn of speed in testing, with Garry McCoy matching Ten Kate Honda and Yamaha's pace at Phillip Island.

It means BE1 team manager Giuliano Rovelli is confident the Daytona 675 will be in the hunt for podiums and possibly wins.

"We expect great things this season. Last year we were rookies but now we are one of the better teams. We know that all eyes are on us and we hope to improve last year's results. In order to do so, we have acquired some new valuable riders and we will be relying on their wealth of experience.

"They are definitely looking forward to competing in this season's WSS. The results we had during the pre-season tests are reassuring and our goal for next season is to get a podium result until the end of the competition."
