Reigning World Superbike Champion Max Biaggi will embark on a new career of commentary in 2013 after it was officially revealed that he will form part of Mediaset's new TV team.

Confirming rumours that surfaced last week, Biaggi will be present from the opening round of the season in Australia, assisting with technical commentary.

Biaggi's arrival comes as WSBK coverage in Italy switches from LA7 to Mediaset's Italia 1 and Italia 2 from this season, the broadcaster having picked up the rights to show the Superbike, Supersport and Superstock classes. Mediaset will also televise MotoGP in 2013, though it has lost the rights to Sky Italy from 2014 onwards.

Biaggi, who will be present to see who will assume his WSBK crown in 2013, will be joined in the TV team by Giulio Rangheri, Guido Meda, Luca Budel and Alessio Conti.

Biaggi won five races on the way to his second career WSBK crown with Aprilia in 2012, before deciding to call time on a hugely success career.
